AI 3D Generation

AI 3D generation tools create models from text prompts or images in minutes instead of hours. The technology is young and moving fast: output quality, mesh topology and commercial licensing differ sharply between tools, and generated meshes usually still need cleanup before production use. This category is where our industry experience runs deepest.

AI 3D Generation: frequently asked questions

How good are AI generated 3D models today?

Good enough for concepting, background assets, blocking and rapid iteration, and improving quickly. Hero assets still typically need manual retopology, UV work and texture cleanup, because generated topology is rarely animation ready out of the box.

Can I use AI generated models commercially?

It depends on the tool. Commercial rights often differ between free and paid tiers, and some services train on user uploads unless you opt out. Check each tool page here: we track the commercial usage terms per tool.

Text to 3D or image to 3D: which works better?

Image to 3D currently produces more predictable results because the source image pins down proportions and style. Text to 3D is faster to explore ideas with but gives you less control over the exact output.

What formats do AI generators export?

GLB is the most common default, and most tools also offer OBJ, FBX or USDZ on paid tiers. If you need PBR texture sets or quad topology, check the export options closely before subscribing.
