Free and open source 3D creation suite covering modeling, sculpting, texturing, animation and rendering.
Texturing and material tools paint and generate the surface detail that makes 3D models look real: color, roughness, metalness, normal and displacement maps. Modern texturing is built around the PBR (physically based rendering) workflow, so textures made here carry consistently into game engines and offline renderers.

PBR stands for physically based rendering. It describes surfaces with maps such as base color, roughness and metalness that behave predictably under any lighting. Assets textured this way look consistent across engines and renderers.
Painting apps let you brush directly onto the model, like a 3D version of an image editor. Procedural tools build materials from node graphs that can be adjusted and reused endlessly. Studios typically use painting for hero assets and procedural workflows for materials at scale.
Baking transfers information from one model to another, most commonly high polygon detail onto a low polygon game asset as a normal map. It also covers ambient occlusion, curvature and other utility maps that feed smart materials.
